The Riu Palace Costa Rica has a new and modern decor in the lobby, as a part of refresh and updating of the brand.
If you are looking for the familiarity of the brand, they have stayed with the main inner courtyard and lively pool and swim-up bar.
On this particular trip we were hosted by another property, however I did bump into a couple that I had met on the plane that were travelling for their own destination wedding. They said they and their guests had had a great week and were enjoying the resort. This was not surprising as I have sent several of my own clients to the Riu Palace Costa Rica, always returning with positive feedback about their experience.
Most of the properties activities do revolve around the main pool area. While they do have a decent beach for Costa, the property is not set up with a beach bar and drink service with lounge chairs and palapas at the beach as is typical of the Riu Palaces located in Mexico and the Caribbean.
The Beach
Splash Water World
Another strong drawing card of the Riu Palace, particularly for families is the Splash Water World both for kids and kids at heart! The water slides coloured black and green do have a height requirement for you. The park with the slides that are blue, yellow, red and orange are for the smaller travellers.
For anyone with mobility or walking issues this property is worth considering because of it’s compactness compared to other properties in Costa Rica. The land is sits on is pretty flat making it easier to navigate, and not as spread out as some of the other properties that I toured.
There are elevators to navigate the different levels, but most facilities are located on the main level.
