| | | | Tetouan is situated on the Mediterranean Sea in northern Morocco close by to the city of Tangier. The city is less than an hour away by ferry from Southern Spain. It has been declared a World Cultural Heritage City by UNESCO in 1997. Tetouan was founded in the 14th century and destroyed in 1400 by the Castilians, and rebuilt in the 15th century by Muslim refugees who had been exiled from Andalusia, Spain. It was once the capital of Spanish Morocco from 1913 to 1956 and Spanish still continues to be widely spoken here. The city of Tetouan is extraordinarily enchanting with its impressive setting of the Rif Mountains and the cheerful and colorful Martil Valley. The white walled buildings and green tiled roofs create an unusual mix of Spanish and Moorish architecture. It has distinct Andalusian (Spanish) charm with its iron balconies, fountains and flower boxes. Take a stroll around the charming old buildings as you imagine living in Morocco's historical past. The locals are friendly and very much involved in the business of living. Today you will find the city surrounded by an abundance of fruits, nuts and and cypress trees. As you make your way around town, you will find women selling vegetables, herbs, butter and honey. The Hassan II Square is where the old and new town meet and is the heart of the city. As you explore the streets you will likely find that each street has trade guilds which can be very fascinating to watch. Tetouan experiences an extremely pleasant weather (the temperature ranges between 50F during the winter and up to 86 F during the summer season). With its excellent local beaches, Tetouan is a popular Moroccan resort. | | | | | | | | | | | | SCHOOL FACILITIES 6 classrooms that are have ceiling fans (some AC) - internet access - common/social room - cafe - snack bar - library - sports facilities - pool and shops. | | | | The school is located in the center of downtown Tetouan.
