Traveller’s Checklist
Ensure your trip is safe and problem fee. A simple checklist to make sure that you have the basics covered.
- Carry a passport that is valid well beyond the date of return. Keep copies of passport and ID separate from original.
- Plan your itinerary & budget
- Purchase travel & health insurance
- Leave copies of ID and passport with someone in Canada
- Obtain visas well in advance
- Check whether dual citizenship is going to be a problem
- If travelling with children, ensure that you have documentation proving your right to accompany them.
- Take care of health needs : vaccinations, prescriptions, medical certificates, supplies, extra glasses or contact lens.
- Obtain an international driving permit if needed.
- Register online with the Canadian government office abroad
- Anticipate financial needs : local currency, traveller’s cheques, departure tax
- Prepare for your flight by carefully attending to luggage, documentation and airport security rules.
- While abroad, keep receipts and make special arrangements for food, plants and animals to be brought back to Canada.
